X-Ray FAQs

At Prospect Street Dental Practice we are committed to using the lowest dose possible to achieve an accurate diagnosis of the condition of your teeth. We only take x-rays when we consider them absolutely necessary

We don’t use lead aprons because research has shown that there is no benefit due to the very small amount of radiation from a dental x-ray.

Did you know the dosage received from two dental x-rays is equivalent to the additional radiation you would absorb from natural cosmic radiation on a return flight to Spain.

19 million small (intra-oral) dental x-rays are taken each year.

If you are pregnant the research shows that there is no risk to the baby or the mother from dental x-rays, however you may decide to delay the x-rays until after the child's birth.
